Warzone 2.0 innovations and updates since the Call of Duty: Next event
Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is ready to make its impact as a remastered, free-to-play, free-for-all battle royale that reintroduces the Call of Duty series.
Prior to the launch of Season 01, an extensive article will be dedicated to delving deeper into what's new and updated mechanics since what was introduced in Call of Duty: Next. For now, here's a rundown of the highlights we can share:
Warzone 2.0 custom gear returns.
Similar to the original Call of Duty®: Warzone™, gear plays a significant role in what makes this game special. Players will also have faster access to their primary gear feature: the primary weapon, in this new era. There are three ways to earn gear or at least a basic weapon:
Shops - Players can use in-match money in Shops (the new name of the vending station) to purchase their primary weapon from the gear they have prepared.
Generic Gear Drop Event - Gear Drops will drop into the Gauntlet in the middle of Battle Royale matches. However, it is not limited or reserved for individual teams, but can be accessed by any player.
Strongholds and Dark Outposts – Players can also earn gear at the start of the game as a reward for securing a Stronghold or Black Outpost.
In-match money can also be used to purchase your primary weapon from the prepared gear.
After the Next event, some changes have been applied to the new gulag over the past two months while it was still within the traditional Warzone experience.
The Gulag will be a 2v2 battle where randomly selected doubles must team up to defeat their opponent. All players will receive pre-determined loadouts — upon launch, it will be a Pistol or Shotgun, Deadly Grenade and Tactical Grenade — Highly effective weapons and equipment are located near the middle of the map.
The Gulag will also include a jailer who will appear in the middle of the match to increase the intensity of the fight. Defeating the warden will return all four Gulag prisoners to the battle royale, which presents a dilemma: will the two agree to wait and fight this powerful foe, or will one of them get greedy and try to achieve the victory of elimination?
Instead of the traditional overtime mechanism, if neither team nor the jailer are eliminated soon after, all four agents lose.
