The new characterr in God of War Ragnarok

Through the presentations of the God of War Ragnarok game, we got to know many new characters, and of course these characters have an important role in the story, so it is necessary to get to know them in order to discover the role that they may play in the events of the next part. This is what we will highlight in our article in this series of gaming culture.

Warning: The article includes spoilers for some of the events of the previous part, and the stories of the characters.

Thor

He is the god of thunder and storms and the son of Odin. Thor has a magical belt called "Megingjord" and a magical war hammer called "Mjöllnir" made by dwarves, which, when thrown, returns to the hand of its owner after hitting its target. Even when wielding that superweapon, Ali wears two iron gauntlets of a special kind. To protect him first and to double the power of that magic hammer. When that hammer hits its target, it fires a flash of lightning. The job of Thor and his hammer was to destroy the giants.

Thor is known for his great hostility with the giants, as his father Odin commissioned him to fight them after he failed to steal knowledge from the country of giants, so they asked Tire to block the way to the land of Jotunheim, which ignited Odin's anger.

In the last part, we saw, in the secret ending, a bull at the door of Kratos and Atreus' house, with signs of anger visible on his face after Kratos killed his children and brother. According to legends, Thor will have a fundamental role in the Ragnarok War, where he will face the giant serpent, son of Loki, and the battle will end with the killing of the snake, but as soon as Thor takes several steps, he will also fall dead, affected by the poison of Jormungandr.

Without a doubt, Thor will have a pivotal role in the next game, and everyone is waiting for the legendary confrontation between Thor and Kratos, and the raging battle between the hammer and the axe.

Durlin

He is one of the dwarves and appears to be a pirate or something like that. In Scandinavian mythology, there is no mention of the name Durlin, but there is “Durinn”. If it is the same intended, then this dwarf is considered responsible for making the magic sword of Tyrfing. There are not many things that we know about this character, but it seems that we will meet her in the next game in order to help us save Tyre.

Angrboda

If you wonder who is the brown girl who appeared at the end of the show, she is Angrboda of the dynasty of giants and is the wife of Loki and the mother of his three children, the wolf Fenrir, the giant serpent Jormungandr and Hel.

Of course, there is a lot of ambiguity about her appearance in the next game in terms of her meeting with Atreus, and if there will be a time jump so that we move in time to a period after they have their children.

According to Norse mythology, Fenrir, Hel, and Jormungandr will play an important role in the battle of Ragnarok. The wolf is the one who will swallow Odin and then be killed by one of Oden's sons. And the snake will fight with Thor and each of them will eliminate the other. As for Hel, she will lead an army of the dead to conquer Midgard.

Mimir had told Kratos that his actions and his killing of Baldur accelerated the advent of the Great Winter and thus Ragnarok by about 100 years from its original date, and in the last part we saw the presence of the snake, son of Loki, as the snake was sent to the past even before its birth. He comes from the future when Kratos and Atreus's Ragnarok is already underway, as the battle between him and Thor caused the serpent to crash into the World Tree, breaking the time loop. So this point may be relied upon in the next game for the appearance of the other sons of Loki and Angrboda.

Freya in God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok

It is true that she is not a new character, but the next part, God of War Ragnarok, will witness a major reversal of the personality and will turn upside down, after she was a close ally of Kratos and helped him on his journey and even treated his son Atreus, but the great transformation took place at the end of the last part after Kratos killed her son in turn in defense On behalf of Freya herself, but the mother's heart broke with grief for the pleasure of her liver and she swore revenge.

In the presentation of the new part, we saw Freya as we had not seen her before, as the features of sadness and anger are clear on her face, so do not be deceived by her angelic features and her tyrannical femininity that we saw in the last part, as she turns into a wild beast when she decides to use her full strength, especially her skill in using Vanir magic And we saw in the show her ability to transform into a predatory bird that pounced on Kratos with great strength and speed.

Tyr in God of War Ragnarok

Tire is considered as the god of war in Scandinavian mythology, he is the son of Odin and the half-brother of Thor and Boulder, and although he is the god of war, he is known for his courage and that he has always sought peace, meaning that his goal was to use his power to stop wars instead of igniting them.

One of the characteristics of Ter is also that he was a lover of science and eager to learn about other cultures, so he was traveling through different worlds, and during his movements he was getting gifts from other peoples and he believes that the vase that Kratos saw in the Temple of Ter was among those gifts.

Tire aspired to achieve peace between the gods of Acer and their enemies, the giants, who did not trust the gods except Tire, and according to what Mimir told Kratos in the game, one day Tire was able to convince the giants to allow Oden to enter their home Newtonheim in order to achieve peace, but after Oden entered, his intentions appeared Evil, he wanted to spy on the giants in order to steal their wisdom and knowledge, as he believed that in the ability of the giants and their prediction of the future, he could change his destiny at the end of the world, so they expelled him from the world of Newtonheim, and cast a curse on him so that he could not enter their world again.

Odin ordered Thor to kill all the giants and fight them, and here Ter felt guilty so he decided to help the giants hide the Newtonheim Gate with the help of Kratos' wife, and thus no god could reach Newtonheim except Tyr because he had the Unity Stone which Kratos found in the previous game to reach To the land of giants, Odin felt Tyr too much of a threat and knew he was helping giants
